Pumpkin Cider

This is the perfect time for a warm mug of pumpkin cider as you snuggle up on a cold winter day or you can drink it cold if you prefer. I found a bunch of beautiful winter squashes at our local farmer's market last week. So I thought it would be the perfect time to share this recipe with you.

Now, here's the recipe!

Ingredients:
Please buy organic ingredients whenever possible, for you and the planet!
  • 1/2 small pumpkin (1.5 lb/680 gm), peeled and seeded
  • 2 apples (14 oz/400 gm), stems removed, quartered
  • 1 inch (.26 oz/ 7 gm) fresh ginger or 1 tablespoon ginger juice (see video below for making ginger juice)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon (.625 ml) ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1/8 teaspoon (.625 ml) five-spice powder (optional)

​For added nutrition, add-
  • 1/2 pound (227 gm) romaine or any other leafy greens
  • 3 stalks celery
​Process all ingredients through your juicer or blend in your high-speed blender and strain through a juice bag.
